Funny Stuff

Check this out. A little theological humor. It's irresistible.

'no choice of your own'?

I'm sorry, but you do not properly understand the reformed position. You just mocked a straw man that you yourself erected.

I think I understand now. Not only does Magnum understand what Jesus was *really* talking about in John 6 (although your interpretation is only vagely connected with the actual words), but it appears Magnum *really* knows reformed theology as well.

But to answer your question, maybe I respond like James White because maybe you guys are responding like Dave Hunt?? After all, I seem to get plenty of personal jabs at my position (ad-hominem), willful ignorance to what holy scripture actually says, as well as plenty of fairy-tale interpretations of scripture (Christtology in John 6:44 right?). It's Dave Hunt times 2! (only a little less consistent).

Up to this point I have refrained from mocking the utter inconsistency that I have seen around here, but when I defend my own position from mockery you guys throw a fit? Please, if your going to use ad-hominem and straw men to attack my position, at least don't cry when I try to defend myself.

I never had been to this blog till Daniel linked to mine (thanks Daniel, welcome), so I'm not really familiar with what goes on here. But I think what's more funny then the cartoon is that y'all found a way to argue about it.

Classic.

Scott,

Classic indeed! LOL, great observation.

Magnum,

You accused me of acting like James White, and I did not dispute that. For (as you pointed out), I have not been completely blameless throughout this discussion. But my words have been anything but personal, as what troubles me the most is the distortion of God’s holy word. That is the thesis behind every statement of mine that you quoted.
But to take it a step further, Philo then takes a cheap shot at the position he believes I hold. Yes I am aware that the ‘I’ stands for irresistible grace, but anyone who knows anything in depth about reformed theology knows that ‘forcing love through no choice of our own’ is a terrible caricature of this doctrine. As I have stated before, the doctrine of irresistible grace is simply “all that the Father gives to Me will come to Me” -nothing more and nothing less.
