Why Philosophy?
Socrates once said, "Philosophy is a rehearsal for dying."
Hebrews 6:19. "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure."

Martin Luther once said of Aristotle, Socrates' philosophical descendant,
"the whole of Aristotle is to theology as darkness is to light. This in opposition to the scholastics" (Disputation Against the Scholastics).
Ouch! Poor old Thomas Aquinas would have started throwing punches at Luther with that comment. :)
Hmmm! It's an interesting statement though. What I enjoyed about Socrates' statement was his awareness of his impending death. Death makes people think. It makes them examine their lives and the world around them. Death makes people ask, "Why?" Look at Ecclesiastes 7:2.
"It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart."
why are you not Catholic? Intellectual Christianity all over the world is returning to its roots in traditional orthodox worship i.e. the Catholic Church and Orthodoxy. Read the Church Fathers and leave Luther behind
