Books and Stuff

This last month in my spare time I've been working through a couple of different books. Both of them are pretty good and challenging to my relationship with God. First, I've been reading John Piper's When I Don't Desire God: How to Fight for Joy. I've utterly enjoyed it. Piper gives us a great approach to understanding spiritual disciplines that's not legalistic. I've learned alot from it and feel challenged to memorize more Scripture.

I've also been reading Mark Noll's The Rise of Evangelicalism: The Age of Edwards, Whitefield, and the Welseys. This book is a thoughtful study of the Great Awakening in the 18th century. I highly recommended it, especially if you're a church history fan.

Oh, by the way, Switchfoot has a new album coming out soon and you can listen to pieces of it on their website. It sounds really good. I can't wait 'til it's released. Jon Foreman is a great songwriter. Each album that they've written seems better than the last. I hope that they can do it another. Beautiful Letdown was an amazing album.

Wow! What a Busy Summer!

So it's been a really long time since my last post. I've been pretty busy painting our house and going to summer camps. First I went to Camp Maranatha in North Platte, Nebraska for senior high camp. I played some electric guitar with the band from Cheyenne Berean. That was pretty cool.

Next Shelley and I spent a couple weeks at Camp Rock in Redington, Nebraska. The first week was junior high camp and the second week was senior high. It was pretty good. It was a good time to hang out with some old friends and to make some new ones.

Well, now that I'm back, I hope to post some more on hopefully a more regular basis.
